Putin received the third dose and volunteered to undergo a nasal vaccine

Putin, who was given an extra dose of the drug in his Sputnik Light modality, had received the full schedule of the original Sputnik V vaccine earlier this year, on March 23 and April 14.

The president’s statements came during a meeting with Denís Logunov, deputy director of the National Center for Research in Epidemiology and Microbiology Nikolai Gamaleya, who developed the drug.

He also stressed that he felt fine after the injection and recommended the treatment as the most effective method to protect himself from the coronavirus and avoid serious symptoms in case of contracting the disease, while volunteering to participate in the tests of a nasal vaccine.

“Can I participate in that experiment?” The Russian president asked Logunov. The scientist answered affirmatively and specified that it was necessary for him to sign a certificate with his disposition.

“Okay, I will sign it without fail, it can be done today,” Putin stressed.

A few days ago, Gamaleya scientists reported that until then no adverse effects had been detected from Spray 08-Gam-Covid-Vac-2021, which is the official name of the nasal vaccine against Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Russia experienced a slight decrease in the numbers of daily infections, despite today having exceeded the barrier of 9.3 million accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the last 24 hours, the country registered 36,970 cases and 1,252 deaths from the disease, reported the national operational center for the fight against the coronavirus.

In total, the country totals 9,331,158 cases of Covid-19 and 264,095 deaths.

Although the number of cases seems to be stabilized and slightly decreasing in recent days, after the highs recorded between the end of October and the beginning of November, the number of deaths is close to the record, set on Saturday with 1,254.

Currently, Russia has five approved coronavirus vaccines: Sputnik V and Sputnik Light developed by the Nikolai Gamaleya Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology in cooperation with the Russian Direct Investment Fund; EpiVacCorona and EpiVacCorona-N, created by the Vector Virology and Biotechnologies Center; and CoviVac, produced by the Chumakov Center for Research and Development of Immunobiological Substances.
