Reference fuel prices rise, is a new increase coming?

The fuels could have their third consecutive increase, after the Ursea release its report on the Import Parity Prices (PPI), which showed that international values are on the rise.

In this way, after the September increase and the August update, the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) would decide in the next few hours to adjust the price of the naphtha and the gasoil at service stations Uruguay.

According to the PPI show an increase of 4.2% (3.15 pesos) for the Super 95 gasoline, which went from 74.39 pesos last month to 77.54 pesos today.

Meanwhile, in what has to do with the 50S diesel, the increase in the survey of Ursea reaches 6.1% (3.40 pesos), moving from 55.99 pesos to 59.39 pesos for next month.

The government must define whether to increase gasoline and diesel

With the updated reference prices, it will now be the Executive who should determine if it increases the values of the naphtha and the gasoil and, in that case, how much cost you decide to pass on to users. To make the decision, the government will analyze several factors, among them that it no longer has the back of Ancap, due to the maintenance stoppage at the refinery The Tile.

The thing is that, when reporting last month’s increase, the portfolio that leads Omar Paganini explained that “Ancap absorbs a good part of the increase.” However, in that letter he had anticipated that the maintenance stoppage was planned this month, which also promises to be extended due to conflicts between the union and the state company.

This is what he anticipated president of Ancap, Alejandro Stipanicic, who warned: “Unfortunately we can no longer contribute to containing international prices, to moderating increases.” The leader clarified that “in this the financial back of the Ancap that now we are not going to have it for a while.”
