Exceptional composer and organ virtuoso Anton Bruckner was born on September 4, 1824 in Ansfelden and spent a lot of time in Steyr.
An organizational team in Steyr is currently working on several exhibitions and activities for the Bruckner year: Plans include, among other things, a multimedia show with the title “Un#heard, this Bruckner” in the Steyr City Museum (Innerberger Stadel) and an exhibition in the Mesner’s House next to the city parish church .
Anton Bruckner was a difficult person. Piano virtuoso Hans von Bülow described him as “half genius, half idiot.” Anton Bruckner felt very comfortable in Steyr, he had good friends here, and he also created great works here. Bruckner spent 20 summers in Steyr.
