Lacalle Pou considered that the exchange delay is a consequence of the success

President Luis Lacalle Pou He referred to the exchange rate delay and considered that “it is a consequence, in part, of success,” by focusing on the entry of dollars into the country and the growth of the investment during his speech to members of the Union of Exporters of Uruguay (UEU).

After the criticism he received from the Rural Association of Uruguay (ARU) due to the misalignment of the exchange rate and the fiscal deficit, Lacalle Pou He spoke again on the topic and pointed out: “We have the same vision, it’s just that the toolbox is limited.”

The president expressed himself this way during a tribute to the executive secretary of the UEU, Teresa Aishenberg. In that context, Lacalle Pou He maintained that “the income of American currency, of dollars, is due, among other things, to exports and foreign investment.”

Along these lines, he indicated that “we should be proud of the result of the investment foreigner” and highlighted that “40% of the profits are reinvested”, something he described as “a sign of confidence that does not exist in the world and today Uruguay has it.”

Finally, Lacalle Pou He touched on the issue of labor relations and spoke of “the need to generate a good climate and that conflict is not the norm, but the exception.” Along these lines, he focused on paying good salaries to workers and concluded: “Our task is to grasp the reality that lies before us and transform it.”
