Martin Öller couldn’t help but feel a little bit of satisfaction when he thanked all the naysayers who had said that he and his fellow Loxone founder Thomas Moser lacked innovative strength. At the Rohrbach business reception, he spoke about the company’s beginnings in a demolished house in Kollerschlag. More than 500 entrepreneurs and guests came to the reception at the Loxone Auditorium. Öller gave insights into the company’s 14-year history. He didn’t ignore the many setbacks – there were certainly a few opportunities to give up. “We wanted to build a company for the future. Applicants even turned around when they saw our old building,” he said – standing in the brand new Loxone campus, which is set to become the epicenter of home and building automation. “The art actually lies in getting up more often than you fall down,” was his advice to the business people, before he gave the evening a whole new quality with a surprise guest.

Take advantage of the opportunity of the century

Franz Kühmayer, one of Europe’s most influential pioneers of the new world of work, took the stage and captivated the audience: “I see an opportunity of the century for medium-sized businesses,” said the sought-after futurologist. Because medium-sized businesses in particular have proven that they are resilient to crises. “Crises are the permanent condition. Risk is a possibility,” he said. Only those who remain in old ways of thinking will be overtaken by time. He cited the topic of sustainability as an example. According to experts, sustainability will cost 170 billion euros across Europe by 2030. “While some complain about the costs, others see great economic potential in it,” explained Kühmayer. Because if billions are spent on the one hand, there must be companies on the other hand that earn them. This is exactly where the expert sees the “mid-sized opportunity of the century”: “Anyone who wants to implement and achieve something will go to the healthy middle class.” This is where the innovative strength and true entrepreneurial spirit lie.

Company awarded

The business reception also offered the opportunity to present the Rohrbacher Business Awards in five categories and one special category.

Global Hydro Energy GmbH, based in Niederranna, is a leader in the field of hydroelectric power plant technology and its software products enable operators to increase the efficiency of their power plants, reduce maintenance costs and detect problems in electromechanical equipment long before production losses occur. This won the prize in the “Digital Transformation” category.

Jauker GmbH & Co.KG won in the “Attractive Employers” category as a regional employer for almost 100 employees. Jauker in Aigen-Schlägl and St. Martin is known as a family-friendly business.

The construction companies Hehenberger Bau, Kumpfmüller Bau and Brothers Resch have come together to form Dreihans GmbH to form the largest construction company in the Upper Mühlviertel. Dreihans’ mission is to rethink, research and develop construction. This resulted in victory in the “Cooperation & Regionality” category.

On the 220-year-old farm in St. Veit, Robert Weißengruber has developed Speckup, an innovative organic beef bacon powder that brings spice and taste to the table. The prize was awarded in the “Innovative Young Companies” category.

Holz Fesl, a modern family business with tradition in Kollerschlag, won the prize for “Ecologicalization & Sustainability”. The company relies on closeness to nature and sustainable use of raw materials.

The Nordwaldkammerorchester and Choir as well as the Nordwaldkammerspiele clubs were able to celebrate the special prize as cultural workers.
