Ingo Budzik arrived in Linz about a week ago. The 53-year-old German covered more than 900 kilometers on the journey from Bremen to the Upper Austrian capital. Three trucks full of steel frame parts, lamps and tarpaulins followed Budzik’s camper van, his home for the next nine days. As part of the Baier company, the trained locksmith will be a guest at this year’s Urfahraner autumn market for the first time with the “Musikexpress”. Passengers will be able to experience centrifugal forces of up to 4G in the ride. “You’re going to be really pushed into the seat,” says Budzik in his characteristically relaxed North German manner.
The Hanoverian has been working full-time in the amusement ride industry for more than 30 years. It is not without pride that he mentions that he was involved in building the largest wooden roller coaster in the world, the “Colossos” in Soltau, Lower Saxony. Putting the “Musikexpress” together, on the other hand, was “purely routine after all these years”; it took him “two to three days” to do it together with the four-person team.

The first impression of Linz and the festival grounds is definitely positive: “The view of the Danube and the city is unique compared to other venues,” says Budzik. He’s already gotten used to the Upper Austrian dialect: “I at least try to greet people with ‘Hello,'” says Budzik and has to laugh.
Church services and hits
From today until October 8th, 280 showmen and 70 exhibitors from all over Europe guarantee an exuberant festival atmosphere not far from Linz city center, as they do every year. Mayor Klaus Luger (SP) and city councilor Doris Lang-Mayerhofer (VP) will perform the traditional beer tapping this morning under the gun salute of the Neukirchner pillory shooters. On Saturday, the Urfahran market also means “free rides”: the rides can be used for free from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

As in previous years, this year there are program and activity priorities for families, seniors, students and people with disabilities. From the service in the Autodrom Straßmeier (October 6th) to the “Day of Inclusion” (October 5th), every visitor should get their money’s worth. There will also be a “treat” for fans of pop music: tomorrow, on the first Urfahrmarkt Sunday, the Swiss singer Francine Jordi will perform in the “Da Wirt 4s Fest” marquee.
The prices for beer and grilled chicken remain unchanged compared to the spring edition. After these rose sharply in May and were much discussed, this time they have remained the same. A pint of beer in the festival tent costs 6.40 euros, a grilled chicken with French fries costs 17.20 euros.

The OÖNachrichten is also on the Urfahraner market. Promotions and competitions await visitors. Gingerbread hearts, apples and vouchers await OÖNachrichten subscribers at the OÖNachrichten stand in Hall A, Stand A29 every day from morning to night.
