To make a traditional art form accessible to a broad audience: With this mandate, the Grieskirchen Brass Music Association and the State Brass Music Association took on the role of organizers of the “Leben.Blasmusik.Festival”. This requirement was fully met last weekend, said district chairwoman Andrea Märzendorfer on Sunday: “People picked out what they liked.”
From Friday to Sunday, the district capital and its surroundings were dominated by brass music. It all started with a “Wirtshausroas” in Grieskirchen on Friday evening. Music groups moved from bar to bar and entertained the numerous guests. On Saturday from 10 a.m., five bands from all over Upper Austria took part in a concert competition in the Kallham parish church – “It was a great setting for fine music,” says Märzendorfer. The pleasing result: all participating clubs won a gold medal.

Brilliant concert evening
The musical highlight was a concert in the Gföllner production hall in Stritzing. “Upper Austria in four-quarter time” was premiered there: a piece composed especially for the festival, for which five Upper Austrian composers worked together. “It was a brilliant performance. The people were deeply impressed,” says Märzendorfer.

The festival concluded on Sunday with a musical hike in mild temperatures and a morning pint. “I’m overjoyed that we managed the premiere so well. The concept was a complete success,” sums up Märzendorfer.
