At a family meeting in Uttendorf (Braunau district) an argument escalated between a 44-year-old and his 43-year-old brother-in-law early on Sunday afternoon. The 43-year-old was seriously injured and had to be flown by helicopter to hospital in Salzburg. However, according to police, the injury was not life-threatening.
Son made an emergency call
Shortly after 2 p.m. the argument between the two men probably got out of hand. The police say why is still under investigation. The emergency call was received by the police at 2:20 p.m. and the perpetrator’s son made it. The man himself allowed himself to be arrested without resistance after the police arrived.

Interpreter has to translate
The reason for the attack is currently being investigated. The State Criminal Police Office took over the investigation and went to the crime scene, a single-family home in Uttendorf, in the late afternoon.

The perpetrator was taken to the Mattighofen police station, where he will be questioned. However, the police need an interpreter for this because the family has North Macedonian origins. As soon as the initial investigation is completed, the man will be transferred to the Ried prison.
