The Communist Party supported the PIT-CNT plebiscite

The popular consultation promoted by the union center continues to generate divided opinions among the different sectors of the left-wing force.

In the framework of the celebrations of the 103 years of the PCU, its Central Committee approved and disseminated through social networks a public statement on its position on the PIT-CNT plebiscite.

In the public statement, the PCU stated, among other accusations, that “the application of the neoliberal policy of the right-wing coalition government, led by Luis Lacalle Poucontinues to harm the vast majority of our people.

Therefore, they resolved to “register the initiative of the PIT-CNT and other social organizations to promote a requirement against the government’s retirement reform.”

“The pension reform is part of the neoliberal adjustment of the right-wing government”

“The retirement reform is part of the hard core of the neoliberal adjustment of the right-wing government,” the letter states, adding that “the fight against the application of the retirement reform implied a very important accumulation in our society and there is a majority rejection of the herself.”

Likewise, they indicated their commitment to militancy for the collection of signatures “throughout the country” to be able to reach the plebiscite ballot in the next general elections of 2024, and develop.

The PCU also planned to confront from the ideas of “the right and the sectors of financial capital,” who they accuse of being “the only beneficiaries of the government’s retirement reform.”

“The retirement reform imposed by the right and the ruling classes is a serious social and democratic setback,” they remarked.

Finally, the statement ensures that a “popular offensive will be organized to confront the conservative restoration” and “reconquer the national government for the people with the FA.”
