Unemployment continued to rise in September. 320,760 people were registered as unemployed or in training at the end of September, which is 14,601 people or 4.8 percent more than at the same time last year. This means that the negative trend in the domestic labor market that has been going on since April continued. In August 2023, the number of people registered as unemployed or in training was 320,759, an increase of 11,328 people compared to the same period last year.
However, compared to the pre-crisis year 2019, unemployment was 13,704 people lower, the Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs announced in a release on Monday. The number of employees in September was 3,996,000, 35,000 higher than in the same period last year.
The unemployment rate rose to 5.9 percent at the end of September, 0.2 percentage points more than in the previous year.
