The two key players recently had to take a break from their clubs due to injuries, but could be back in action at the weekend and appear in the 28-man squad nominated on Monday.
Sasa Kalajdzic is making his ÖFB comeback after an absence of over a year, Patrick Pentz, Gernot Trauner, Flavius Daniliuc, Marco Grüll, Alexander Prass, Romano Schmid and Manprit Sarkaria are also back after a break. Rangnick also nominated Salzburg defender Samson Baidoo for the first time.
The most prominent absentee is Marko Arnautovic, who has to sit out due to a muscle injury. Phillipp Mwene is unavailable due to knee problems. Stefan Posch, who was recently injured, was brought into the squad by Rangnick.
