It was Monday around 4:30 p.m. when the Innviertler from the Ried district was riding his mountain bike on a municipal road when he was overlooked by the 63-year-old driver of an oncoming car in a blind curve.
The cyclist had no chance to avoid it, crashed head-on into the vehicle, was thrown against the windshield and then ended up lying next to the road. The 50-year-old was seriously injured and flown to the hospital by rescue helicopter. According to the police, an alcohol test on the driver from the Grieskirchen district showed a blood alcohol level of 0.28. He was uninjured in the accident.
