By awarding the sports volunteer award, the OÖNachrichten and its partners recently said thank you to the 200,000 volunteers in the country who are involved in clubs. Eva Schausberger (29), swimmer, coach and section leader at SV Losenstein, was surprised by her third place in the state ranking and her victory in the district ranking. “I was really happy about the nomination because we have a lot of committed people in the club,” says the likeable Ennstal native, who runs a farm with her partner and is not at all used to the hype surrounding her: “The OÖN articles with my photo hanging in the display case, a lot of people called me and congratulated me.”
The response was already great during the vote. “Everyone voted for me – farmers, firefighters, footballers and swimmers.” The whole community stuck together and cheered.
The indoor swimming pool in Losenstein is like a second living room for the 29-year-old. Together with a team of eight trainers, she teaches beginners how to swim, improves the times of advanced swimmers, and swims with a group of women on Sunday evenings. With success: The Losenstein elementary school was the national winner of the Penguin Cup in 2023. “Eight out of nine team members swim for SV Losenstein.” Schausberger is a role model for the children and young people in the club. The talented swimmer is lightning fast and collects titles at district and state level. “If things go well, I can win a medal at the Masters State Championships in Mürzzuschlag this weekend,” says Schausberger, who has been training to be a swimming instructor since September.
“The Ennstal really comes together in the Losenstein indoor swimming pool,” says the award winner, emphasizing the importance of the indoor swimming pool in Losenstein, which people from Amstetten via Gaflenz to Garsten would use. What Schausberger appreciates less about being an official is the excessive bureaucracy. “I’m currently applying for swimming licenses for my protégés, which is time-consuming and complicated.” She would rather spend more time in the water.
