The “Upper Austria Kitefoil Grand Prix” starts today in the Ebensee Traunsee Bay. For Alina Kornelli, the home event is also the end of the season. The 23-year-old wants to “give her all” again in front of her family and SC Kammersee club members – and top her fifth place from last year. “The joy of this event is huge,” she says. “It’s basically the only regatta of the season that takes place close to my family and friends. That makes it special.”
After a strong start to the World Cup in front of Palma de Mallorca (Esp) and Hyères (Fra), a knee injury temporarily slowed the 23-year-old down. She made her comeback at the World Championships in The Hague (Ned) and was immediately back among the top in the world with 17th place and narrowly missing out on the Olympic quota place. Recently, at the European Championships in Portsmouth (Gbr), the athlete from the Austrian Sailing Association came eighth. Here at Traunsee, Kornelli wants to once again fully exploit her potential. Your goal is to place in the top three.
