President Luis Arce was expelled from Evo Morales’ party

The official movement that he leads Morales pushed Arce aside from their ranks for his refusal to attend the congress of the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) which was held this Tuesday and Wednesday in the department of Cochabamba.

According to the resolution approved by Morales’ supporters, Arce “exjected himself” by failing to keep the appointment in which his rival was proclaimed candidate for the December primaries.

Another 28 MAS militants loyal to Arce, including legislators and government officials, were also expelled.

Division deepens in Bolivia

Arce’s criticism of the MAS

Arce had sidelined himself days before the ruling party’s congress, alleging that social organizations were not represented. “We cannot attend a house where the true owners, the social organizations, will not be there,” said the president and former Morales minister. Furthermore, the authority said in his defense that he is busy managing him.

Without the indigenous origin or charisma of his mentor, Arce has managed to shore up his leadership among the social bases and unions through the delivery of incentives.

His disapproval reaches 50%according to a survey by the private company Diagnosis.
