A 79-year-old man had to appear in court on charges of animal cruelty. He was accused of killing a gray heron by snap trapping it, causing the animal unnecessary suffering. The man had set up a total of four snap traps, the animal was caught in the neck and foot and died. The man took responsibility for his actions and the proceedings ended in diversion. The 79-year-old has to pay a total of 700 euros.
