And now he will “White Noise Cultural Pavilion”affectionately also as “Artificial hedgehog” called, set up in the former Gmunden city garden – as an event space for concerts, exhibitions, readings or lectures during the Capital of Culture year 2024.
The owner of the spiky eye-catcher is the state of Salzburg, which is making it available to the cultural capital. It was originally supposed to be set up in Altmünster, but the intended location turned out to be structurally unsuitable. That’s why Gmunden is now coming into play. For Mayor Stefan Krapf (ÖVP) this is proof that “how much the Capital of Culture project brings communities together”.
“White Noise is an architectural work of art and a self-confident showcase for vibrant contemporary art”says Andreas Hecht, chairman of the cultural committee in Gmunden. “Wherever he appears, art and culture takes place.”
