Despite some model communities, the road to becoming the number one children’s area is still a long way, stated AK President Andreas Stangl.
The number of municipalities that offer full-time childcare across all age groups has increased from 75 to 82. The number of communities that have a “very well-developed range” of child care has also increased (from 76 to 94). However, there is still “a lot of room for improvement,” especially in rural areas. This particularly applies to childcare options for children under three. Unfortunately, the number of municipalities that would refuse to pass on data has also increased (from 33 to 61), criticized the AK – especially in the Ried and Schärding districts. The state government’s announcement to expand care must finally be followed by action, said AK President Stangl.
VP club boss Christian Dörfel rejected the AK criticism and pointed out that almost 100 new childcare groups had been created this year alone. The changes we are making to childcare are significant, but they will take time to fully develop.”
