The “golden autumn”, which has made the sun shine over Linz since the start of the Urfahran autumn market, also had an extremely positive effect on the balance sheet. “With 570,000 visitors, we are almost at the level of the spring market, which is traditionally even more visited,” says the responsible city councilor Doris Lang-Mayerhofer (VP). “People love the Urfahran market because it is the market for everyone.” The opening weekend in particular, with 180,000 visitors, eclipsed everything that had come before.
72,000 portions of bratwurst
With the warm weather, visitors’ thirst also increased. 110,000 pints of beer and 43,000 lemonades hissed through thirsty throats. The fair visitors satisfied their hunger with around 4,000 portions of grilled chicken and 72,000 portions of bratwurst in the festival tent.
Festival host Patrick Stützner is more than satisfied with the business. “It was a very, very good autumn market, the mood among the visitors was very positive,” he says.
The showmen were also happy about the particularly large number of people coming to their rides given the fantastic weather.
This year’s autumn market also attracted a particularly large number of visitors to the big fireworks display on Friday, the traditional family day on Wednesday with reduced prices and the seniors’ afternoon on Tuesday. The semester opening of the university student body was also a complete success with a large student party in the marquee. The “Day of Inclusion” was introduced as a new offer. “This is an important sign that the fair is also there for people with disabilities,” emphasizes market officer Doris Lang-Mayerhofer.
