Vorwärts had to do without the sick Amir Pasic and Bojan Lukic as well as the injured Max Richter. Toni Kabashaj was in the starting line-up for the first time after tearing his meniscus and took the central position in the back three. Birthday boy Eman Lidan (18) started in the right midfield.
On artificial turf in the Koralmstadion, the duel between fifth and sixth was a brisk game with slight advantages for the home team in the first half. There were hardly any chances to score on either side, the guests’ best chance was Daniel Bilic, who missed from a good position (29′). A standard situation gave Deutschlandsberg a 1-0 half-time lead. After a corner from Christian Degen, the free-standing Daniel Schroll headed in (34′).
At the beginning of the second half, Vorwärts had more of the game, Stefan Goldnagl tested goalkeeper Leonid Tafolli with a long-range shot (56′). Three minutes later the equalizer came from a corner. A defender from the home side headed the ball at the near post and the ball landed in the net to make it 1-1.
The game, which was heated at times, was open until the end, but both sides didn’t allow much and so it was a fair draw.
