Rear-end collision in Waldviertel claimed one life

A 72-year-old driving behind him crashed his van into his car for unknown reasons, almost without braking. The van then overturned and the 33-year-old was thrown out of the vehicle and trapped, the police reported on Sunday. He died at the scene of the accident.

The Lower Austrian was traveling on the LB5 from Weinpolz towards Waidhofen an der Thaya when the collision occurred shortly after 7.30 p.m. The 72-year-old driver was injured in the collision and taken to the Horn State Hospital. For the 33-year-old from the Waidhofen an der Thaya district, any help came too late. The emergency doctor could only determine that he was dead.
