Franz Witzmann used to simply try to take beautiful photos. Then – three years ago – he enrolled as an adjunct student at the Linz University of Art, and a lot has changed since then. “The course gave me a different perspective,” says the 68-year-old from Linz. His work as an artist is closely linked to his profession.
Witzmann is a psychologist, and psychology has also changed in the last ten years, he says. “In the past, people tried to find the ideal type, such as the ideal manager,” says Witzmann. But they failed because there isn’t one successful person. Now, instead of a one-sided ideal type, it’s about a multiple view of personalities, and that’s what the artist addresses in his portraits.
Witzmann’s work can be seen in the Energie AG Power Tower from October 10th. The exhibition “behind the eyes” opens at 7 p.m.
