The sale of 0km vehicles grew by 6.9% year-on-year

The Automotive Trade Association of Uruguay (ACAU) published its market report for the month of September which highlights a increase year-on-year of 6.9%, achieving a total sale of 5,205 new vehicles.

According to the report, during the third quarter of the year, an increase of 14.1% was accumulated compared to the previous quarter, while in the first nine months of the current year the increase was 7.2%. Meanwhile, the total of new vehicles sold during the month of September was 5,205 compared to the 4,869 that were sold in the same period last year, achieving an interannual growth of 6.9%.

Car sales continue to increase

During the month of September, 2,211 sales of automobiles, compared to the 1,814 units sold the previous month. Among the best-selling brands were Chevrolet – with 507 units –, suzuki – with 456 – and hyundai with 313 units.

The other two categories that increased their units sold were, firstly, the minibuses, going from 10 to 18 units sold during the month of August. While in second place were placed the bus with 9 units sold compared to 3 in August.

As for the trucks SUV, A decrease in units was perceived with a total of 1,057, compared to the 1,215 sold in the month of August, being the best-selling brands Volkswagen with 180 trucks, toyota with 140 and Chevrolet with 110 units during the month of July. On the other hand, trucks were also perceived to be down with a total of sales of 226, compared to the 253 sold in the month of August.

The category that made the difference so that the total for the month ended lower is the utilitarian. These had a drop of almost 200 fewer units, selling 1,684 units in the month of September compared to 1,850 in the month of August.

A growing premium market

At the end of September, the CEO of Eximar – representative of premium brands such as Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover –, Federico Pieruzzini, explained to Ambit that the premium car market is growing.

“We understand the premium vehicle market at a regional level and the synergy between Argentina and Uruguay It allows us some flexibility, so we saw an opportunity to disembark in the country,” explained the CEO regarding the operation that led them to acquire the representation of Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover in the Uruguay.

“In Uruguay, there is a market that is starting to grow. There is a niche to exploit and we manage it very well. premium market. We have experience doing it,” Pieruzzini remarked.
