A Uruguayan delegationcomposed of authorities from the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) and National Port Administration (ANP) offered Brazilian industrialists the possibility of exporting through the Port of Montevideo.
Last Thursday, Uruguayan leaders presented to the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Fiergs-RS) the project that offers to unite the Rivera Dry Port with the terminal Montevideo through a railway that would be ready for the first quarter of next year.
With this, the Brazilian industrialists of the Fiergs-RS – one of the main nuclei of the industry of the State of South Rio Grande – would have the possibility of transferring exportable goods to the port of Rivera, which would then be transported to the Montevideo terminal to finally be exportable by sea.
Present at the event were the MTOP minister, José Luis Falero, the mayor of Rivera, Richard Sanders and a delegation from the ANP, composed of the vice president, Daniel Loureirothe deputy manager of the National Port System, Nelson Fernandez and the advisor for the Puerto Seco de Rivera project, Alejandro Vazquez.
At the meeting, as confirmed by El País, other projects that promote bilateral relations with the South American giant were also discussed. Among them, the binational airport of Rivera, the Laguna Merín-Laguna de los Patos Waterway or the Mauá bridge in Rio Branco.
In this sense, although still the Rivera Dry Port The rail connection with the port of Montevideo has not materialized – although it is expected to be ready by April or May of next year – the Uruguayan representatives highlighted that the objective was to present Brazilian industrialists with a tangible future possibility for them to consider the port. of Montevideo as a complement to its infrastructures.
Hopes for the dry port
