The locations in Montevideo continue to be more expensive compared to the general average for the country as a whole, followed by cannelloni and Maldonado.
At a monthly level, the variation of the average in current pesos with respect to July was 0.49% and was established at 18,861 pesos at the country level, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The average of Uruguay is only surpassed by Montevideo, where the average rental value is 19,606 pesos. In cannelloni and Maldonado It is 18,299 pesos and 17,565 pesos, respectively.
At the other extreme, the apartment with the lowest average rent is still Long Hill with 12,384 pesos. This department is followed Rivera and Colognewith locations that average 12,396 pesos and 12,612 pesos, respectively.

The number of rental contracts had a variation of 1.29% in August
For its part, the number of rental contracts had a variation of 1.29% during the month of August, with a monthly variation compared to July of 0.08%.
Until August, there was evidence of 85,236 current rental contracts, of which 77.45% belonged to Montevideo.
The country’s capital registered 66,015 rental contracts in August 2023, a variation of 1.35% compared to August 2022.
While the average price of contracts in force in Montevideo is 19,606 pesos, that of the 1,494 new contracts signed in the month of August is slightly lower, at 19,589 pesos.
Among the interior departments, the one that accumulates the largest number of contracts is cannelloni, with 11.59% of the total; followed by Saint Joseph with 1.86%; Maldonado 1.59%; Paysandu 1.32% and Cologne 1.23%.
