Dorothy Hoffner from Chicago passed away “peacefully in her sleep” on the night from Sunday to Monday, the Chicago Sun Times newspaper reported, citing relatives. The exact cause of death has yet to be determined, the New York Times also reported.

Just about a week earlier, on October 1st, the senior living in a retirement home had broken the world record as the oldest female skydiver. She is said to have had a lot of fun jumping out of a plane when she was 100 years old.

“It was beautiful, peaceful”

A video showed the 104-year-old walking with her walker to an airport near Chicago – in a great mood and looking forward to it. In the pictures of the tandem jump with an experienced skydiver from a height of thousands of meters, Hoffner also looked quite happy. After the adventure she said: “It was beautiful, peaceful.”
