The animal was released for shooting after sheep and rams were killed in a pasture protected by a wolf-repellent fence in the Gailtal. This means that four wolves have already been killed in Tyrol this year.
According to the state government, in the case of the torn animals in Obertilliach there was a concrete suspicion of wolves, but the result of a DNA analysis was still pending. The carcass of the killed wolf was brought to Innsbruck for an examination.
According to preliminary figures, just over 100 dead sheep and one goat in East Tyrol this year were proven to be attributable to wolves. Nine sheep were killed by a golden jackal. Around 200 animals are missing. An exact balance of damage can only be drawn at the end of the year.
