Guests and graduates were guided through the school, where the special features and structural changes were shown. In two classes, curiosities, the history of the building’s development and past school events were presented in words and pictures. The changes in the teaching staff were also shown – in extensive research, the former director of the high school, Harald Gebeshuber, recorded all 772 teachers and their length of service from 1863 to 2023 – this data was presented in a table on a 7 x 2 meter paper wall.
Time travel through the school history
The guests were then welcomed by director Gerald Bachmayr and together they went on a journey through time through the school’s history. OÖN columnist Roman Sandgruber reported on the sources found and their processing in his book “Hitler’s Father – How the Son Became a Dictator”. Among other things, Hitler attended the Steyr secondary school. The Stanzel Prize for high school students was then awarded for the seventh time. The theme for the year was “Remembering.” The main prizes were presented to Miriam Mutschlechner-Dean for a 3D animation entitled “Memories of a Neuron” and to Moritz Kolb and Silas Konnemann for a short film entitled “Memories in Need”.
