The unsafety and the unemployment are the two main concerns that the Uruguayans, according to the latest survey carried out by Consulting Teams, in which the economic situation He finished in a comfortable third place.
Firstly, there appeared unsafety, to the point that 46% of citizens placed it among the two main problems of Uruguay. In second place was the unemployment, with 33%, followed by the economic situation, which remained with 23%.
In the ranking of problems, the education and the Social problems, both with 11%, leaving the government (6%), the health (5%) and low income (5%).
Thus, although crime is the most mentioned problem individually, it is surpassed at a global level by the sum of concerns of an economic nature.
How did the concerns of Uruguayans evolve?
By investigating the variations over time, Equipos Consultores showed that in 2019 concerns about the unsafety They reached 68% and decreased to 29% in 2021, experiencing a rebound to current levels, still far from those of the last years of the previous government.
On the other hand, references to unemployment They evolved differently. In 2019 they reached 44%, increased to 47% during the pandemic and reached their minimum in 2022 (25%). Regarding the economy, people’s referrals were at 18% in 2019 and doubled in three years, then dropped significantly this year.

There are differences according to socioeconomic level
Consulting Teams also measured the differences between population segments. For example, concern about unsafety grows at the same time as social stratification. Thus, in the high and medium-high socioeconomic sectors, mentions of this problem reach 53% of the population.
On the other hand, the problem of unemployment It works in the opposite direction: it increases as social stratification decreases. Among the low sectors, the references reach 43%, while among the high and medium-high sectors it is 22%.
