A 35-year-old Hungarian had a blood alcohol level of 1.36 when he and his 37-year-old wife were traveling on the A1 towards Salzburg on Thursday afternoon. In the area of the Wangauer Ache construction site in the municipality of Innerschwand am Mondsee (Vöcklabruck district), the driver lost control of his car. According to his own statements, he was forced to the left by an unknown car. The drunk Hungarian drove onto the concrete center rail. The vehicle overturned and only came to a stop on its wheels about 80 meters further ahead in the left lane.
While the 35-year-old survived the accident uninjured, his wife, who was in the passenger seat, sustained such serious injuries that she had to be taken to the Salzkammergut Klinikum Vöcklabruck. After the positive alcohol test, the man’s driver’s license was temporarily taken away, the police said in the evening.
