Nana Falkner from Altenfeld rocked the stage at the casting show “The Voice of Germany” with “Holding Out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler. With a “four-man buzzer” the Mühlviertler more than fulfilled her target. “Of course you hope that one of the jurors turns around; when all four of them hit it, it’s an amazing feeling,” the 25-year-old can’t quite believe that the journey in the popular casting show is continuing. “You always dream about it, but I can “I can’t even put it into words that it’s really like that. But the feeling is indescribable and incredibly beautiful.”
Now it’s time for the battle phase. “There I have to rehearse a song with a partner. Tom and Bill decide which one,” says the Mühlviertler excitedly. The song that coaches Bill and Tom Kaulitz choose must then be sung by the battle partners. The jury then decides whether to move on to the next round. So it remains exciting.
Standing ovation
Only 150 musicians even made it into the “Blind Auditions” show. There, the candidates have to sing on a stage in front of an audience, accompanied by a live band. The jury members can initially only hear the singers, but cannot see them because they sit in a swivel chair with their backs to the stage. They can vote for a candidate by pressing a button to turn their chair toward the stage during their speech. One of the four jury votes would have been enough for Nana. The musician is of course even more pleased that there were four of them and that the audience also acknowledged the performance with a standing ovation.
Opening anthem for the World Rally Championship
Falkner can usually be heard as a street musician with the subway stars of the Wiener Linien – somewhere on the U1 between Karlsplatz, Stephansplatz and Schwedenplatz. But the World Rally Championship in the three-country region also brings the Vienna-based artist to the Mühlviertel to perform. On October 27th she will appear in the rally’s support program with Folkshilfe and Mundhoat. “I also perform my own songs there and will of course also bring the Blind Audition song,” she reveals. But an important appearance is coming up the next day on rally Saturday: “I can open the race with the national anthem. That’s really exciting,” says one of the Mühviertel’s big daughters, looking forward to this honorable task.
