At around 4:30 p.m., the 51-year-old Kosovan from Vienna, armed with a sledgehammer, stormed the business of the 32-year-old fellow countryman, who lives in the Braunau district. Since his opponent wasn’t there, the man hit furniture at random. Employees managed to force the violent man out of the store.
The shop owner, who had been informed in the meantime, then came to the shop. When he saw the 51-year-old walking on a sidewalk opposite, the 32-year-old drove his car towards the man and hit him from behind. When the car came to a standstill, the situation escalated even further and the 51-year-old’s 30-year-old son hit the driver.
When the police arrived, the 32-year-old had to be held back several times by police officers because he tried to attack his 51-year-old opponent even in the presence of the police.
Both those involved were injured in their attacks and were temporarily arrested. The 51-year-old confessed to his hammer attack and cited the motive as the disrespectful behavior of the 32-year-old, who is said to have besmirched his son’s honor. The car driver did not confess.
