The Uruguayan Armed Forces plane arrived in Tel Aviv in the morning and returned to Madrid with 90 Uruguayans from the war zone.

The first humanitarian flight of the plane Hercules of the Uruguayan Air Force (FAU) is already returning from Israel with the first Uruguayans evacuated from the country of middle Eastwho went to war with Hamas.

This was communicated by both the Minister of National defense, Javier Garcia, like the Chancellery. The plane arrived at Tel Aviv in the morning, and it is the first of the three flights that the government confirmed to repatriate Uruguayan citizens in the midst of the escalation of the war conflict that has already left thousands of fatalities both in Israel and in the Gaza Strip.

Flights depart from Madrid towards the Israeli city, a trip of seven hours each way. The evacuated people are being taken back to the Spanish capital, and from there they will return to Uruguay in commercial flights.

This first trip of the Hercules will allow the evacuation of 90 of the more than 200 people who requested to be evacuated from Israel in the humanitarian operation coordinated by the Foreign Affairs Ministries and Defense.

Three humanitarian flights one week before the start of the war

While one week has passed since the attacks by the considered terrorist organization Hamas in various cities in Israel – and the subsequent war response by the government of Benjamin Netanyahuwith a declaration of a state of war included—, the government has already confirmed three humanitarian flights between Madrid and Tel Aviv.

Until yesterday there was a deadline for Uruguayans caught in the middle of the war conflict to register in the “Form for consular assistance to Uruguayans in Israel and Palestine”; through which more than 200 people registered.

The war, meanwhile, continues to escalate while awaiting a new ground attack by the Israeli armed forces on the Gaza Stripalthough they have extended the deadline for Palestinians to evacuate through a humanitarian corridor, urged by USA and even the NATO to measure the “proportionality” of their responses to terrorist attacks.
