As a result of the “Vienna Gesera” of 1420/21, Jewish life in Austria was largely wiped out through forced baptisms, expulsions and killings.
Just yesterday, Saturday, supporters of the Palestinians demonstrated in Vienna-Favoriten. This rally also passed without incident. However, after a rally in Graz that was broken up by the police, an incident occurred: a young man was arrested on Saturday evening after he attacked a police officer and slightly injured him.
The organization “Palestine Solidarity Austria” collected signatures for a petition calling on the federal government to remove the Israeli flag from government buildings. The petition accuses the government of a “submissive policy towards Israel” and calls for “an in-depth analysis of the Palestine conflict beyond Zionist historical myths.” The website listed 265 signatories as of Sunday evening.
In Salzburg, the police were investigating two 14-year-olds who tore down the Israeli flag that was hoisted in front of Mirabell Palace on Thursday night in solidarity with the victims of Hamas terror. As the Salzburg State Police Department announced, the two people from Salzburg confessed during questioning. They cited “rashness” as the motive and would make up the damage to the amount of around 100 euros. You will be reported to the Salzburg public prosecutor.
