LINZ. One goal more beautiful than the other: Danube striker Edwin Skrgic scored four goals in the 5-0 win in the Linz derby of the Regional League East against Admira. The 28-year-old is really blossoming again with the Little Munich team (ten goals this season) because he has also gone through a transformation: “He is no longer recognizable compared to before,” says Donau sports director Kurt Baumgartner, describing the rather difficult times attacker.
In 2019, the club suspended him during his second visit to the Danube because he drove to a futsal game without permission and let his team down. It wasn’t the only indiscipline in his career so far. Nevertheless, Linz brought him back in the summer. Baumgartner: “Because I know what he can do.” Even Skrgic says: “I used to do a lot of nonsense, but my attitude has completely changed.”
This is mainly due to the birth of his daughter Tajra: “As a father, you have a completely different responsibility. I needed that to get on the right path.”

This has not gone unnoticed by clubs from higher leagues as well as from abroad – the Slovenian first division club Mura was already interested in him in 2021. That’s why his current flood of goals not only makes the Danube dream of returning to the Upper Austrian League, but also himself: “Even today I often hear: It’s crazy that you didn’t make more of your talent. But maybe it will work out after all with the jump into professional football.”
