Alois Perger is a paramedic and has experienced a lot of horrors in his professional life. In order to suppress these images in his head, he reaches for the bottle – more often than is good for his health. But that’s not the only problem he faces “Bleed gently”, the eighth crime novel by Werner Wöckinger, has to be clarified. Because once again, without any intervention on his part, Perger slides into a bloody spiral of revenge and violence that challenges his criminal instincts. The police ask themselves who is targeting an honorable lawyer and the local school principal and are largely in the dark during the investigation. And what does all this have to do with a young, shy girl who keeps injuring herself?

A paramedic is investigating

Together with his colleague Julia, Perger comes across numerous bizarre scenes in his daily work, which actually happened in one way or another, as revealed by the author Werner Wöckinger, who has been working full-time for the Red Cross in Perg for more than three decades. The longer Alois and Julia look into the case, the more it becomes clear to them that domestic violence plays a significant role. So they face a case that has surprises and twists right up to the last page.

Two readings in the Perg district

A first taste “Bleed gently” Wöckinger was able to give a performance in front of almost a hundred listeners at this year’s Perger Crime Night in the HTL Perg at the end of September. Anyone who missed this opportunity has the opportunity to make up for it this week at two readings in the Perg district: on Thursday, October 19th (7 p.m.), at the Red Cross Schwertberg and on Friday, October 20th (7:30 p.m.), in the parish hall Mauthausen.

The new crime thriller “Bleed gently” can be purchased in well-stocked bookstores, from various online booksellers or from the author in person. “Bleed gently”, crime novel, paperback, 243 pages. Published by Federfrei Verlag, 2023. ISBN: 978-3-99074-264-8, price: 14 euros.
