On Thursday, Lukas Edl was awarded the Sporthilfe Youth Sports Prize, worth 5,000 euros, at the Sporthilfe gala in the Wiener Stadthalle. And on Saturday he swam the next Austrian junior record at the 39th Int. SU Generali Salzburg swimming meeting over 100 meters backstroke in 53.81. In total, he came second five times and third once and took second place in the overall standings.
The Welser Gymnastics Club swimmer’s list of successes is long: Junior World Championship silver in the 50 meter butterfly, Junior World Championship bronze in the 100 meter butterfly, and at the Junior European Championships he also won silver and bronze in the 100 meter and 50 meter butterfly. The 16-year-old is also state champion in the general class in the 100 meter butterfly. To top it off, he improved the junior record previously held by Dinko Jukic.
