They look really small when they stand in front of the climbing wall in the Auwiesen sports park, which initially seems overwhelming. With the right guidance, the girls and boys of kindergarten age not only improve their coordination skills and learn new movement sequences, but also gain courage and trust in their own abilities.

This was the case at the beginning of the week at the first of a total of 16 events that were offered as part of the city of Linz’s popular movement campaign – initiated more than five years ago by Deputy Mayor Karin Hörzing (SP) – a “climbing autumn”. Under the guidance of Trainer Georg Staltner from the Friends of Nature quickly showed the participating children their enthusiasm for climbing.

A total of twelve dates are on the program in October at the Auwiesen Sports Park with the Nature Friends and in November four more at the Am Turm climbing center in Urfahr with the Linz Alpine Club. The children can try their hand at the bouldering wall and, of course secured, climb as high as they dare on the climbing wall.
