The aim is to bring users into greater contact with news from reliable sources. To do this, a new playback page for news articles will be set up, YouTube managers Brandon Feldman and Geoff Samek announced in a blog entry.
“This news viewing site will aggregate content from trusted sources across video-on-demand, live streams, podcasts and shorts, allowing viewers to go in-depth and explore multiple sources and perspectives,” they said Manager.
To open the watch page for a specific news topic, users will now be able to click on a video with the news icon on the homepage or in search results. This function will gradually be introduced for smartphones in around 40 countries. Integration for desktop PC and Smart TV will follow.
