War. That cursed word that has marked the history of Humanity. That word that contains supposed winners and losers. But in reality where everyone loses. Because it is only synonymous with destruction, pain and death. And a new chapter of the self-destructive raid of human beings began to be written on Saturday, October 7, 2023. A massive attack by the group Hamas from the Gaza Strip towards the territory of Israel It produced surprise and discomfort. At least 1,200 terrorists entered through different points of the border and committed a true massacre in cities, kibbuts, routes and even at an electronic party. They murdered more than 1,300 people, injured several thousand more and kidnapped about 150 of whom even today, a week later, nothing is known. Israel responded with airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, where Hamas He is master and lord of life and death. The result was that in just over 7 days at least 2,000 Palestinians were killed and thousands were injured. And a huge ground offensive is expected on Loopwith the consequences that all that can bring.

In the middle, the innocent victims multiply. During the coverage that we have been doing for C5Nalong with the cameraman Ezequiel Pizzuto and the local fixer Schlomo Slutsky, we have recorded those postcards of pain. And of destruction. From the same city of Tel Avivthe most important in Israel, to others like Ashkelon, one of the most besieged by the bombings of Hamas since it is located only 13 kilometers from the border of Loop, Ashdod -35 kilometers away-, Jerusalem either Skelon, the town that became ground zero of the ground attack of Hamas that black Saturday. There around 350 militiamen took to the streets in trucks and with long weapons, murdering anyone they crossed in front of, but with one particular objective: to destroy the local police and take their weapons. And they do it like that. It was six hours of hell where the citizens who survived had to hide wherever they could while the Army tried to recover the city. Today Skelon It is a ghost city: no one is left, only police and military. And the traces of total destruction. Its inhabitants (about 20,000) were evacuated to hotels in different parts of Israel, such as those on the Dead Seawhere we were able to collect the testimony of the Argentine Diego Scirettawho remained hidden with his sick mother for three days because there were still terrorists loose even in the patio of his house.

And the situation of Argentines is omnipresent because there are many of them: it is estimated that there are 90,000 living in Israel, 1% of Israel’s total population (9 million people). It is known that at least 7 Argentines died and another 15 are missing or kidnapped by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. In our coverage we interview Romina Shvalb, a woman from Córdoba who has lived in Israel for 35 years and who knows nothing about the fate of her sister Karina, her brother-in-law Ronen Engelbert and her nephews Mika and Yuval, who have been missing since Saturday. when Hamas terrorists entered the kibbut Najal Oz and they committed a real massacre. Romina is not only desperate for her family but for the rest of the people who lived in the place since she knows them because she worked as a garden teacher in that kibbut.

Another Argentine who is also waiting for news of people who are missing today is Itzik Horn. This man knows nothing about the fate of his two children Yair and Eytan, who were also in the kibbut attacked by Hamas that bloody Saturday and from that moment on he knows nothing. As also happens to Alex Sherman and his family who are desperately seeking information about their son Ron (singer’s nephew Leon Gieco) that at 18 years old he was doing the Compulsory military service at a border military base when the terrorists entered and, as seen in a harrowing video, kidnapped him.

These are just some of the stories that directly touch the Argentina since its protagonists have some connection with the country. Hundreds of compatriots were now able to get away from the conflict in Israel thanks to the flights arranged (two per day) by the Chancellery Argentina. And so they managed to give a little relief to their families. In total, nearly 1,500 nationals signed up to be able to have that “rescue.”

Meanwhile, other citizens of Israel and other parts of the world are not that lucky and their lives are in danger, if they have not already lost it. This chapter of this war began that ominous Saturday. But it continues to be written every day. With blood, destruction and death. And with pain. Much pain.
