Large-scale deployment of emergency services around Ohlsdorf (Gmunden district, Salzkammergut): At around 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, the police received an emergency call from a worried mother after her 13-year-old daughter did not return home from school on time.

When she finally arrived home in the evening, the student reported to the police that she had observed a suspected kidnapping of a girl on her way home that afternoon. The approximately 12-year-old, who is said to have been wearing a pink jacket, was dragged by three men into a white van with a foreign license plate – presumably from the Czech Republic or Slovakia.

Witnesses observed cars

Several adult witnesses in Ohlsdorf may also have observed that a white van was speeding away at high speed with squealing tires. However, these witnesses did not confirm that a girl was kidnapped in Ohlsdorf or that she could have been in the car, a spokesman for the state police headquarters told the OÖNachrichten in the evening.

A police search was triggered in the evening hours: officers were on alert within a 30-kilometer radius of Ohlsdorf, and a police helicopter with thermal imaging cameras and emergency services from the Cobra special unit were deployed throughout the Gmunden district, says the police press spokesman.

That evening, the 13-year-old was questioned as a witness by the police officers at the station in Ohlsdorf about her observations. At first the investigation situation was unclear. According to the police, there was no missing person report for a missing girl until Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The other witnesses should also be questioned about the incident.
