A 13-year-old claims to have observed how a twelve-year-old girl was dragged into a white van. Two men with tattoos are said to have pulled the child into the vehicle with a foreign license plate. The student claims to have observed the alleged kidnapping from home. She was home alone with her six-year-old sister. When the van drove away, she called her mother, who then called 911.

A large-scale police search that was launched immediately was initially unsuccessful. The police have also not received any reports of a missing child. Friday morning it was assumed that there had been no kidnapping.
