The accident occurred on Friday at 12:50 p.m. on the country road at the intersection with Scharitzerstrasse.
A 36-year-old driver of a concrete mixer was waiting for clearance to drive towards Goethestrasse to the construction site there. At the same time, a 98-year-old pedestrian from Linz was crossing the road with her walker towards the tram stop.
98-year-old already overrun
When the pedestrian was level with the right front area, in front of the bumper, the 23-year-old from Linz drove over – he apparently had not noticed the woman. It was only when he jerked that he became aware of the woman already lying on the street. He stopped immediately. The 98-year-old was run over by the concrete mixer and was seriously injured.
She was taken to hospital after first aid.
