A near-series study celebrated its Austrian premiere at the Caravan in Wels these days: the California. The VW bus, which is being converted in Hanover, has grown in length and width compared to its predecessor, resulting in even more living space, more comfort, but also even more safety and flexibility, say the Wolfsburg-based company. The vehicle with two sliding doors shows a new three-room concept with a kitchen that can also be used from the outside. This means that the study is significantly more flexible in everyday life, and the feeling of living is more spacious, also thanks to the very variable interior concept.
Technically, the California is based on the MQB (Modular Transverse Matrix). The Lower Saxony company has announced an eHybrid as a drive system, which is intended to improve driving comfort – i.e. make it quieter. Various camper functions can be controlled using the “Cali on Tour” smartphone app. The near-production study has also been upgraded with all sorts of new assistance systems.
