A 29-year-old from the Wels-Land district drove a horse-drawn carriage in Steinhaus from the town center towards Thalheim around 4 p.m. A 26-year-old from the Linz-Land district was also sitting on the coach seat, and a 29-year-old from the Wels-Land district was sitting on the back seat.
At the intersection of Hauptstrasse and Teichstrasse, the man turned left onto Teichstrasse, which leads steeply downhill. Due to the steep slope of the road, he applied the front brake too hard and lost control of the carriage. It rolled over in the direction of travel, was pulled further by the harnessed horse and finally came to rest on its side in a house driveway, as the police announced on Saturday. In the accident, the driver and the woman were thrown from the carriage seat.
The 26-year-old ended up lying under the carriage and was injured to an unspecified degree. He was taken to Wels Hospital by ambulance.
