The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced today that they were “prepared and on alert” to move on to the “next phase of the war” waged against the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, which means “a ground maneuver” on the Gaza Strip.
“Israel is prepared and on alert to enter the next phase of the war, which is a ground maneuver, and will begin this step at a time of its choosing,” declared IDF spokesman Avichay Adraee.
“The Army currently has instructions to apply a total blockade to the Gaza Strip, and this provision is being applied on the ground,” the spokesperson said, according to the Sputnik news agency.
According to the spokesperson, Israel is also prepared for an escalation of the conflict with the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, and holds the government of neighboring Lebanon responsible for everything that may happen.
He also stressed that they do not have sufficient information to demonstrate Iran’s direct involvement in the incursion committed on October 7 by Hamas.
“We do not have enough information to speak of Iranian involvement, but we do have enough information to affirm that Iran supports Hamas and finances a significant part of its activities and provides it with weapons, training and training,” Adraee emphasized.
On October 7, Hamas launched thousands of rockets from the Gaza Strip in an unprecedented attack and carried out an armed incursion into Israel’s southern border areas.
In response, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the country “at war,” mobilized more than 300,000 reservists, launched several waves of airstrikes on Gaza, where it cut off water supplies, and prepared a ground offensive.
