Pope makes urgent call for end to conflict

He is deeply concerned about the situation in Israel and Palestine. He was saddened by the hostages, the injured, the dead and their families. The Pope urged humanitarian corridors so that the population could receive aid and pleaded for the release of the hostages.

“Every war – I am also thinking of Ukraine – is always a defeat, a destruction of human brotherhood. Brothers, stop the war!” demanded the Pope. He announced a day of prayer and fasting for next Friday (October 27).

The Pope spoke on the phone with US President Joe Biden on Sunday afternoon. The 20-minute conversation concerned the situation in the Middle East and other conflict areas in the world, as the Vatican announced.
