The library card now becomes a cinema ticket in Steyr

The offerings of the city library on Bahnhofstrasse have already been extensive: customers of the Marlen Haushofer library had a choice of around 32,000 media. In addition to current novels, crime novels, non-fiction books and children’s and young adult books, there is a large number of games, CDs, DVDs and Tonie figures.

The streaming service “filmfriend” is now also available in the city library. “And all at no additional cost,” says library director Isabella Janko. All you need is a valid library card, with which you can not only use the library’s entire media collection, but also stream films, series and documentaries from the comfort of your own home.

The card is available at the city library for 23.50 euros for a whole year, 15 euros for half a year or 7.50 euros for three months. Together with the library card, customers receive access data for the streaming service. All those who already use the online account on the new library website can now also log in to “filmfriend” using their password. Library customers who do not yet have access data can apply for one at the library. If you have any questions, the city library team is available from Tuesday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“filmfriend” is a so-called video-on-demand platform for libraries. This includes more than 3,500 feature and documentary films, series and short films for film lovers and world explorers, for cineastes, for families, children and young people. The catalog is constantly being expanded. All films can be conveniently streamed on TV devices using an app for Android TV, Fire TV and Apple TV or via ChromeCast. Alternatively, you can use the internet browser.
