The demonstration was less than five minutes old when about ten demonstrators began the anti-Israel chant “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” The organizers of the event immediately intervened and called for an end to the anti-Israel chants. This was greeted with applause by the other demonstrators. The meeting is accompanied by a large police presence.
According to the event announcement, the official purpose of the meeting is to “raise awareness of the Middle East conflict and clearly distance ourselves from anti-Semitism” as well as “advocate for human rights for all” and “solidarity with Palestinian citizens.”
