With 0:3 (23:25, 24:26, 18:25) the volleyball players from UVC McDonald’s Ried had to admit defeat to TSV Hartberg at home on Saturday evening in front of around 300 fans. After the Bundesliga opening win against Sokol Vienna at the end of September, the Innviertel team lost the last three games against Waldviertel, Hypo Tirol and Hartberg under new coach Manuel Leitgeb. Those in charge of the club don’t get nervous, on the contrary, as UVC Ried chairman Roman Lutz explains in an interview with OÖNachrichten: “The team has enormous potential. We have double staff in all positions. The team with several new players still needs something “It’s time, and the level of the league has increased enormously in recent years. That’s a very good sign for volleyball in Austria,” says Lutz. The defeat against Hartberg was painful because they could have won the first two sets. “Hartberg was then able to improve, but unfortunately we couldn’t,” says Lutz.
Sixth place in the table
In the table, UVC Ried is in sixth place with four points from four games, ten teams play in the Bundesliga.
Already next Saturday. The next home game will take place on October 28th in the Raiffeisen Volleydome (Rieder exhibition grounds). The opponent is VBC Weiz. “I expect the team to win in this game,” says Lutz.
